Winter’s coming: Part I

Winter comes early in Minnesota and the North Woods of Wisconsin. I had the opportunity to try out some new winter activewear over the past week on my trip to the Midwest and Washington, DC. Today I will share with you my favorites from Athleta and Kühl.

Stay tuned for reviews of the latest pieces from Nike, Target, Lane Bryant and old Navy.

Headlands Hybrid Cargo Tight

This is a great outdoor activewear piece. I wore them hiking in Minneapolis and loved them. They are comfortable and practical. Did I mention the pockets? SIX secure zipper pockets. A great all around piece for anyone who loves being outdoors in the fall and early winter.

Luxe Coaster Jogger

I have worn this more than other item I bought on this trip. It is the ultimate athleisure piece for the fall. This jogger is super comfortable and ideal for travel, running errands or just lounging around. It has a tie waist, side pockets and is super soft against the skin. My favorite fall item. Salutation Stash Pocket Tight

This is the best selling item in the DC Athleta store and a staple piece. The lightweight weight fabric feels like a second skin and the waistband provides great support. This is a great piece for yoga, pilates and barre.

All Over Gleam Tight

I love this piece. I was skeptical, but quickly won over, the tight fits and looks great. The higher waist fits great around the waist and hips. The inside lining is soft and comfortable. Reviews indicate and the fit is consistent across the sizes offered: petites, tall, regular and plus. This is a great fashionable athleisure piece for fall and winter.

Savasana Macrame Bra

Athleta’s sports bra collection keeps expanding. This piece has a beautiful macramé racer back and is meant to be seen. The fabric is soft and gentle on the skin making it a great piece for athleisure. It is a gentle overhead compression bra with molded cups and is best for low impact activities.Screen Shot 2018-10-25 at 9.17.48 PM

Run Free Half Zip

This is a solid staple piece. Ideal for layering in the colder weather and available in white so you can be seen when you are outside after dark. Size range only goes up to XL. An extended size alternative is the Bootcamp Hoodie.

Lombard Top

A soft comfortable athleisure sweater that is great for layering. The fabric feels soft and comfortable next to the skin and can be worn for outdoor activities with other pieces or on its own. The Cloudlight Relaxed Asym Top offers a similar design with petit, tall and plus sizes. The fabric is made for sustainable sources and is a great choice for the eco-minded customer.

Nirvana Sherpa Funnel Neck Sweatshirt

This sweatshirt feels as warm and cozy as it looks. Every time I wear this sweatshirt someone asked me where I bought it. This comfortable sweater is warm enough to wear on it’s own in the colder temperatures. The turtle neck is loose fitting and great for layering. It is soft and cuddly on the outside and smooth on the inside. Paired with the All Over Gleam Tight it is a fashionable athleisure outfit for the fall. The size range is limited to regular XS-XL.

Kühl

Kühl provides fashionable quality outer and activewear in regular and extended sizes. I am a recent fan. I own two pieces by Kühl. One is a great athleisure pant I got last year. The newest is the FLIGHT VEST; a fashionable and fun piece made with super soft fleece, high collar and a stowaway hood, but is only available in sizes up to XL. The Kühl Athena Pullover Top is an extended size alternative. It is made from soft melange wool fabric and the cowl neck can be folded up for extra warmth.
